About SEA

Shell Egg Academy is a program hosted through Purdue University Extension.
SEA is a learning experience and education opportunity for the egg production and processing industries. Through a combination of interactive classroom experiences taught by expert speakers, and hands-on learning, participants are provided the latest information on egg quality and egg safety.
Two academies are planned each year — a Virtual SEA and an in-person, and each event have their distinctions.

- Virtual Shell Egg Academy 101: A Practical Course for Egg Industry Employees
- 2026 – February 23-27
- In-Person Shell Egg Academy: Advanced Knowledge, Leadership Development, and Networking
- 2026 – September 1-3 at Purdue University
- Virtual Shell Egg Academy 101 is a practical course for egg industry employees. Virtual SEA focuses on egg quality information and an interactive experience that is useful for employees who work in egg barns and processing plants – with the ease of joining from your computers. Within Virtual SEA, instruction is separated into Course 1 (Live Production) and Course 2 (Egg Processing). Virtual SEA offers live Spanish translation. Registration fees for Virtual SEA are currently $900 per course for 1 person or $3000 per course for UNLIMITED employees to participate along with your company’s access to the content for 6 months after the live course.
- In-person Shell Egg Academy is a more advanced look at egg production and processing and is held at Purdue University. This program is specifically for managers of egg companies and those in similar positions looking for a deeper dive into egg quality and food safety as well as specific table-top exercises, and enhanced, in-person networking opportunities with industry, academia, and regulatory agencies.
